In the article “Italian cruise ship captain to be questioned; 29 remain missing” the main idea is to inform the public about what is happening to the captain who sunk cruise ship off of Italy’s western coast. This story is written by Dan Rivers, a reporter form CNN. This source is very reliable because it was posted on one of the worlds top news station and if their facts weren’t true they would be seriously sued. In the story it explains that Francesco Schettino (cruise ship captain) is in under arrest. He may face as many as 3 different charges including shipwreck, manslaughter and abandoning ship while passengers here on board. This article was written on the 16^th of January and the trial was to be held the next day. The author does not show any signs of slant or a bias because in an informative piece you need just the facts and no opinions.

In the article “Pinoy Cooks, crew of sunken cruise ship hailed as heroes” the main idea is to inform the public about the heroes that helped save many lives as the cruise ship was sinking. This story was written by Bernice Bauzon a reporter for manila times. This story is very reliable because it was written for a world wide newspaper, and has reliable data that I have read on many other sites. In the story it explains that many Filipino works were the main heroes in the sinking cruise ship they helped many passengers get to safety and risked their own lives to save others. Three Filipino works were hospitalized for their brave actions. This article was written on the 19^th of January in 2012. The story does show bits of bias and slants toward how heroic the Filipinos were but this does not affect the story’s data, it says things like “Filipinos are good at what they do. They are helpful and they go out of their way to extend helping hands to anyone in need”
